UE College of Education

Graduates of the BSEd major in English will:

听

  1. Possess broad knowledge of language and literature for effective learning.
  2. Use English as a global language in a multilingual context as it applies to the teaching of language and literature.
  3. Acquire extensive reading background in language, literature, and allied fields.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication.
  5. Show competence in employing innovative language and literature teaching approaches, methodologies, and strategies.
  6. Use technology in facilitating language learning and teaching.
  7. Inspire students and colleagues to lead relevant and transformative changes to improve learning and teaching language and literature.
  8. Display skills and abilities to be a reflective and research-oriented language and literature teacher.

The minimum standards for the BEEd degree program are expressed in the following set of learning outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the diversity of learners in various learning areas.
  2. Manifest meaningful and comprehensive technological, pedagogical content knowledge (TPCK) of the different subject areas
  3. Utilize appropriate assessment and evaluation tools to measure learning outcomes
  4. Manifest skills in communication, higher order thinking and use of tools and technology to accelerate learning and teaching
  5. Demonstrate positive attributes of a model teacher, both as an individual and as a professional
  6. Manifest a desire to continuously pursue personal and professional development

Graduates of Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) will be able to:

听

  1. Disciplinal Knowledge: Apply scientific and evidence-based practices critical to the educational and learning process
  2. Movement Competency and Proficiency:
  3. Demonstrate skilful performance in a variety of physical activities听
  4. Adapt performance to a variety of physical activity settings: (formal classes, recreational, and competitive)
  5. Curriculum and Program Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation:
  6. Critically examine the curriculum (e.g., content, pedagogy and assessment) and program, and enhance (e.g., innovate) them necessarily.
  7. Plan and implement safe and effective physical activity programs to address the needs of individual and groups in school and/or non-school settings
  8. Monitor and evaluate physical activity programs in school and/or non-school settings
  9. Use appropriate assessments听in,听as听and听for听student or client learning
  10. Use information, media and technology in pedagogy and for lifelong learning

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences major in Fitness and Sports Management will be able to:

听

  1. Disciplinal Knowledge听鈥� Create and adapt appropriate programs and interventions in exercise, sports and recreation.
  2. Professional Competence鈥� Apply concepts, processes and theories on the management of resources and operations to exercise, sports, and recreational programs and facilities. This includes demonstrating management capabilities and techniques in different contexts: managing oneself, managing organizational life, and managing others.
  3. Professional Accountability and Responsibility鈥� Promote the advancement of the profession through research, lifelong learning, adherence to work and professional ethics, and advocacy pursuits.
  4. Communication鈥� Communicate effectively through oral, written, and technological format with stakeholders, allied professionals, and various practitioners.

听At the end of the program, the graduates will be able to:

听

  1. Promote the role of nutrition and dietetics for human well-being in relation to the needs, resources, and potentials of individuals, groups, and families.
  2. Practice comprehensive nutritional care for the total wellness of individuals in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural settings.
  3. Integrate nutrition concerns with local and national development efforts.
  4. Manage nutrition programs for individuals, groups, and institutions.
  5. Manage a foodservice unit in the hospital or other settings.
  6. Implement an economically viable activity related to nutrition and dietetics.
  7. Design and/or conduct a scientific study on food, nutrition, and related topics.
  8. Uphold ethical standards of the profession.
  9. Engage in lifelong learning activities.

听Graduates of the Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) will be able to:听听

  1. Basic/Foundation: Provide respectful and meaningful learning experiences and collaborative opportunities for students with additional needs and their families
  2. Learner Development and Individual Learning Differences: Respond effectively to educational needs of students with additional needs.
  3. Learning Environments:听Create safe, inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments for students with additional needs.
  4. Curricular Content Knowledge:听Use of knowledge of general and

specialized curricula to individualize learning for students with additional听听 needs

  1. Instructional Planning and Strategies: Use evidence-based instructional strategies to maximize learning opportunities for students with additional needs.
  2. Assessment: Use multiple methods of assessment and multiple data-sources to make sound educational decisions for students with additional needs.
  3. Professional Learning and Practice: Demonstrate reflective thinking and professional self-direction.
