These essential tools can greatly assist in ensuring safety, visibility, and coordination during emergencies or evacuation procedures.

The University further encourages the students, faculty members and employees to familiarize themselves with designated evacuation routes, safety zones, and emergency response procedures. Together, let us uphold a culture of safety and preparedness within our campus.

UE Advisory聽on聽the Spread聽of聽Volcanic聽Smog (Vog)聽Caused by the Recent Continuous聽Upwelling聽of聽Taal聽Volcano /mla/ue-advisory-on-the-spread-of-volcanic-smog-vog-caused-by-the-recent-continuous-upwelling-of-taal-volcano/ Tue, 20 Aug 2024 04:07:14 +0000 /mla/?p=29961 Vog聽(volcanic smog) is a visible haze comprised of gas and an aerosol of tiny particles and acidic droplets created when sulfur dioxide (SO2) and other gases emitted from a volcano chemically interact with sunlight and atmospheric oxygen, moisture, and dust.聽It聽poses a health hazard by aggravating preexisting respiratory ailments.聽SO2 gas can irritate the skin and the tissues and mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat,聽penetrate airways, produce respiratory distress in some individuals, and induce asthma symptoms.

If you are presently in an area affected by Vog, observe the following precautions and protective measures:

1. Check the air quality level daily. Through the Air Quality Management System page of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) website: https://air.emb.gov.ph/ambient-air-quality-monitoring/

2. Limit outdoor activities to what鈥檚 essential. Stay indoors to reduce exposure to vog and keep your doors and windows closed. If possible, run an air-conditioner or air purifier; both will remove the particulate sulfur compounds and acid gases from your indoor air.

3. Avoid physical activity when vog levels are high.

4. Mask up. When heading out is necessary, make sure to wear an N95 or KN95 face mask. If an N95 or KN95 mask is unavailable, a surgical mask may be used as a last resort. Regardless of outdoor activity, high-risk groups such as the elderly, pregnant, or those with asthma, lung, or heart disease, are advised to mask up. Ensure that the mask is properly fitted to form a seal around your nose and mouth.

5. Stay hydrated. Drink water regularly to help against throat irritation and nasal congestion caused by vog.

6. Avoid smoking, vaping, or using candles and essential oils as any of these may further compromise the air quality around you.

7. Keep your emergency kit on hand. Make sure to stock up on medications for allergies, asthma and flu.

8. Seek immediate medical attention when deemed necessary, particularly for serious symptoms like difficulties in breathing, increased coughing or chest tightness.

Keep safe, Warriors!

Policy on Re-implementation of Vehicle Sticker and New UE Parking Guidelines Issued /mla/policy-on-re-implementation-of-vehicle-sticker-and-new-ue-parking-guidelines-issued/ Sun, 07 Jul 2024 23:38:31 +0000 /mla/?p=29384

In line with the limited parking space on the University鈥檚 campuses, members of the UE community鈥攃overing UE Manila and UE Caloocan, inclusive of the UE Manila Annex鈥攁re hereby advised of the following general policy and guidelines in regard to on-campus parking and related matters for school year 2024-2025.

Please note that these guidelines cover four-wheel and two-wheel vehicles alike.

1. Application Period:

Faculty members and employees of both the Manila and Caloocan Campuses may apply for their UE parking sticker starting this week. Applications will be ongoing until the stickers last but not later than July 31, 2024.*

UE Caloocan students may apply for a parking sticker starting on August 1, 2024鈥攖he first day of UE classes for school year 2024-2025鈥攗ntil the stickers last but not later than August 31, 2024.

The application form for the parking sticker is available at the Security Office鈥攏ear the Gastambide gate in UE Manila and near the Samson Road gate in UE Caloocan.

* Faculty members and employees with more than one vehicle may be allowed to apply for a maximum of three parking stickers BUT ONLY ONE of their vehicles (be they four-wheeled or two-wheeled) will be allowed to park on campus at any given time.

2. Sticker Fee:

The parking sticker is to be applied for by qualified UE constituents intending to park their vehicle on campus on any school day. The one-time fee for this is P1,000.00 covering the entire school year 2024-2025.

Kindly be advised that the planned drop-off/pick-up sticker, meanwhile, is suspended pending further review of the traffic flow on and around the campuses within school year 2024-2025.

Vehicles entering UE Caloocan with no parking stickers shall only be allowed at the designated drop-off/pick-up point at the Caloocan Campus. Vehicles without UE parking stickers will not be allowed to enter the Manila Campus or the Annex Building.

Related requirements and other payment details may be read in the application form and must be strictly observed by all vehicle sticker applicants.

3. First Come, First Served Parking and Inclusive Hours:

Due to the limited parking slots on campus, vehicles with an official UE parking sticker for SY 2024-2025 are not necessarily assured of a parking slot on a given day as parking is on a first come, first served basis.

Parking on campus is from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. only. Overnight parking is not allowed except in extremely meritorious cases and subject to internal approval.

4. Security Concerns:

UE vehicle stickers are to be affixed only by authorized UE Security Office personnel and not by the vehicle owners or their relatives or proxies.

All vehicles coming into the campuses may be subject to inspection by the University鈥檚 security personnel prior to entry and to check for such instances as any door that might be left ajar or head or tail lights that might be left on.

The University shall not be liable for any loss or damage to any vehicle on campus arising from incidents outside of the aforesaid guidelines.

5. Important Reminders:

Possession of a parking sticker is a privilege conferred by the University upon the holder. This privilege may be subject to cancellation at any time if the holder violates any of the traffic and other rules and regulations issued in connection with its use.

The UE vehicle sticker is non-transferable and valid for school year 2024-2025 only
