The University of the UU直播 (UE), through its College of Business Administration Caloocan, is once again joining forces with Surabaya, Indonesia-based Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi (STIE) Mahardhika and the UE College of Business Administration-Manila to host the latest edition of the international research conference on Advances in Sustainable Enterprise Research (ASER)!

The latest ASER international conference takes place on June 17, 2025 (Tuesday), at the Multipurpose Hall of the Dr. Lucio C. Tan Building in UE Caloocan.

This year鈥檚 ASER conference, themed 鈥淚nclusive and Participatory Approaches in Sustainable Enterprise Development and Growth,鈥 will feature Senator Risa Hontiveros as the keynote speaker.

Plenary and panel discussions will highlight insights from business sustainability advocates from Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines, who will share their expertise on fostering sustainable business practices.

Additionally, the conference will include parallel research presentations covering key topics such as Community Engagement, Capacity-Building in the Digital Age, Inclusive Sustainable Business Models, Equitable Benefit Sharing, and Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation.

There will be two plenary speakers:

Mr. Benjamin N. Villacorte, Chair of the Philippine Sustainability Reporting Committee of SGV Philippines, who will speak on 鈥淎I and Sustainability”.

Dr. Indra Kusumawardhana, Associate Professor at the Universitas Pertamina Jakarta, Indonesia, who will speak on 鈥淚nnovative Sustainable Business Models: Developing New Products and Services that Improve the Lives of Low-income Communities鈥.

Meanwhile, there will be four panel discussion speakers:

1. Dr. Amelia, S.E., M.M., Lecturer at STIE Mahardika Surabaya in Indonesia, who will talk about 鈥淰irtual Collaborative Platforms: Facilitating Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing Among Entrepreneurs of Sustainable Enterprises鈥;

2. Dr. Normita L. Villaruz, the President of the Philippines-based Association of CPAs for Sustainability, who will speak about 鈥淚nnovative Financing Models for Inclusive and Sustainable Business Practices鈥;

3. Prof. Kenta Kishi of the Graduate School of Transdisciplinary Arts at Akita University of Arts in Japan, whose topic will be 鈥淐ommunity-Industry-Government Partnership and Collaboration on Digital Inclusion of Sustainable Enterprises鈥; and

4. Ms. Kristine I. Rowan, the Head of Sustainability Programs for Meralco, who will tackle 鈥淐orporate Sustainability in Action: How Meralco is Powering the Good Life for Customers, Communities and the Country鈥.

First launched in January 2020 at UE Caloocan, the ASER Congress continued online during the pandemic in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The ASER Congress鈥檚 sixth edition was immediately preceeded in 2024 by the first post-pandemic onsite conference, which was held successfully at STIE Pancasetia in South Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The ASER Congress aims to bring together participants from diverse institutions and countries, creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of sustainable business鈥攂oth at the local and international levels. Delegates from Southeast Asia and beyond are expected to take part in this groundbreaking academic and professional event.

Nard Hartney S. Molina, a 2013 UE College of Business Administration-Caloocan graduate, has been honored with the prestigious Young Achiever in Public Practice Award by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)!

This accolade honors Mr. Molina鈥檚 extraordinary professional success at such a young point in his career and his substantial contributions to accounting.

A certified public accountant (CPA) in the Philippines and the United States of America and a certified management accountant in the USA, Mr. Molina has risen to prominence in the accounting world since earning his UE Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) degree. Renowned for his remarkable technical expertise and creative approach, he has been instrumental in driving financial strategy and delivering high-impact results in the Philippines and in the United States of America. Within his field, his work has established him as a reliable practitioner, an external auditor, and a professional leader.

Mr. Molina received his newest PICPA award at the 79th PICPA Annual National Convention in Davao City last November 21. PICPA鈥檚 Young Achiever Award recognizes individuals under age 35 for their exceptional contributions, unwavering commitment, and inspiring leadership in advancing the accounting profession locally and internationally. Mr. Molina was also a PICPA awardee in 2020 for Special Achievement in Community Service ().

Besides being an accountant and auditor, Mr. Molina is also an educator, humanitarian, entrepreneur, and business leader. Formerly based in Novaliches, Quezon City until, earlier this decade, moving to New York City (NYC), USA, he recently moved to Ireland, where he continues the public practice and is working on pooling a network of accountants to establish an Ireland-based PICPA affiliation.

A professional with a solid ethical framework coupled with a willingness to educate others, Mr. Molina has come far since graduating in 2013. That same year, he joined Deloitte Philippines as an Audit Junior and three years before passing the licensure examination for Certified Management Accountant (CMA) in the USA then assuming the position of Audit Senior at the NYC-based Galleros Robinson CPAs LLP. In 2018, he was accredited as a CPA by the PRC Board of Accountancy and as a BIR Tax Practitioner, and became a managing partner-proprietor of his namesake NHSM CPAs Accounting Consulting and Financial Services, then launched his initial business venture, NHSM Tailoring Shop, in 2019.

In 2020, Mr. Molina successfully completed the CPA licensure examination in the State of New York and assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer of the accounting group Aliapps. In 2022, he became an accredited as CPA by the Philippines鈥 Cooperative Development Committee (CDA) and opened businesses in Siargao, Surigao del Norte, and in 2023 became an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Chartered Accountant. This year saw Mr. Molina expanding his firm NHSM CPAs by hiring 21 new, young accounting and consulting experts.

Mr. Molina鈥檚 potential as an accomplished professional, and as a person filled with persistence, effort, and drive to grow and learn, was evident in his years as a BSA student in UE Caloocan, during which he was a scholar of the Quezon City government鈥檚 Scholarship and Youth Development Program (SYDP) and of the Commission on Higher Education. He had been the Vice President of UE Caloocan鈥檚 Central Student Council (CSC), President and Student Adviser of the Association of Tax and Law Students, and Auditor of Mathematics Society, among other titles and orgs. He was the champion in the Best Business Case Study category of the 6th Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit in 2011, and was declared by the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants as one of the Most Outstanding JPIAN Finalists in 2013. He even became a Philippine Student Ambassador to Japan of the aforesaid JENESYS in 2010 and a Philippine exchange student in South Korea in 2012. At the 2012 recognition program for UE Caloocan college student achievers, he was given the Award for Exemplary Performance in Interschool Competitions 鈥 and was also commended for sending UE delegates to Thailand for an exchange program, as a project while he was the UE CSC Vice President.
