He went on to be a UE Exemplary Performance in Visual Arts awardee for three school years and recognized as UE Artist of the Year for 2017β€”the same year he represented UE Caloocan in the search for the 10 Outstanding Students of the Philippines. Mr. GaΓ±as was also UE CFAD’s College Distinguished Graduate Awardee during UE’s Yearend Commencement Rites of SY 2016-2017.
Mr. GaΓ±as’ increasing portfolio of colorful illustrations can be seen here:Β β€œI’ve been doing concept art and illustration for some time now,” he tells us, β€œand this practice further reinforced my interest in the narratives of characters and creatures alike. Moving forward, I do hope to share more stories through these subject matters.”

Collectively naming his works as part of the β€œKakanin Squad,” Mr. GaΓ±as has artistically, and digitally, rendered the likes of puto, suman, bibingka, kutsinta and sapin-sapin into imaginary but impressively realized video game characters. The Caloocan City-based Patrick, as family and friends call him, was a stellar, accomplished UE college student. Aside from having been a scholar on at least two occasions, he was the 1st-year Representative of the UE CFAD Student Council for SY 2013-2014 and the Executive Secretary for SY 2015-2016 of the UE CFAD student org Buklod Sining.
