The College of Fine Arts, Architecture, and Design (CFAD) warmly invites you to the opening of 鈥淣agpapat煤loy, Nagp谩patul贸y,鈥� a continuing art exhibition featuring selected works from some of CFAD鈥檚 finest artists, in celebration of National Arts Month.

Join us on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Chua King Ha Galleries, 5th Floor, Tan Yan Kee Academic Building, University of the UU直播 鈥� Caloocan. The opening reception begins at 2:00 PM.

The exhibition will run from March 5 to April 2, 2026.

The University of the UU直播 proudly celebrates another international milestone as students of the UE Basic Education Department-Caloocan once again brought honor to the University at the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) Final Round, held February 6鈥�9, 2026 (online and onsite), with official results released on February 11, 2026.

Competing against delegates from 24 participating countries and alongside 1,550 Philippine participants from 354 schools, UE Warrior ‘mathletes’ demonstrated excellence on the international stage.

The Secondary 2 awardees are students under the Science-based Curriculum (SBC) of UE Basic Ed.-Caloocan, a program designed to strengthen analytical thinking, research orientation, and advanced mathematical competencies.

The Senior Secondary awardees are from the STEM strand, reflecting UE Caloocan鈥檚 strong commitment to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.

These achievements affirm the strength of the UE Caloocan Basic Education programs, where excellence in mathematics and global competitiveness are cultivated at an early stage.

 The journey continues! Our students have also qualified for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Mathematical Olympiad (BBB) Final Round set for March 14, 2026.

 Meanwhile, Grade 7 and 8 UE SBC students will participate in the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) Heat Round on March 8, 2026.

UE CFAD yielded a total of 16 new Architects: 12 first-time examinees and four re-takers. These successful examinees collectively gave the UE CFAD an overall January 2026 ALE passing percentage of 88.89%, which is higher than the national January 2026 ALE passing rate of 82.12%, showcasing the excellence of the UE CFAD in shaping future architects.

The latest ALE was administered by the Professional Regulation Commission just last January 20 and 22 across the National Capital Region and in 12 provincial sites.

鈥橩inulayang Ngiti鈥� is Mr. Oro鈥檚 final experimental film project under the tutelage of filmmaker and Professor at the UE College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design (CFAD), director-curator Richard Soriano Legaspi. This marks the first film by a UE student to be selected as a finalist in this renowned international festival that is now nearing its fourth decade. This international screening also served as the world premiere of the film.

An experimental work, 鈥楰inulayang Ngiti鈥� interrogates the spectacle of elections by questioning the sincerity behind smiling politicians and the visually striking campaign materials that dominate public spaces. Through its distinctive visual language, the film captures the collective fatigue of a people trapped in cycles of promises and disillusionment. As hope fades and trust erodes, the film poses a haunting question: Do those in power truly care, or are their smiles merely a mask for something darker? Ultimately, the film stands as a love letter to those who have lost faith in voting due to ineffective leadership and recurring calamities brought about by political incompetence.

The Stuttgarter Filmwinter: International Festival for Expanded Media is widely recognized for its focus on experimental, avant-garde, and boundary-pushing cinema. The festival brings together filmmakers and audiences who value innovative artistic expression, blending high art with accessibility. This approach strongly reflects the strengths of the UE Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Visual Communication program, which has been competing in the international film festival arena for the past ten years.

Mr. Oro continues to bring pride and honor not only to the University of the UU直播 but also to the Philippines. He also represented UE at CineMap煤a 2025, the longest-running student film festival in the country, where his other experimental film 鈥榊akap sa Yapak鈥� was a finalist. The film has likewise garnered international recognition, having competed at the 5th Footprints Film Festival in New Delhi and the AMI Arts Festival in India.

This Viscom Warrior鈥檚 strength in visual storytelling and his engagement with pressing socio-political issues distinguish him as a remarkable emerging art visionary. By seamlessly combining humanism with strong visual aesthetics, his works do more than captivate. They invite audiences to pause, reflect, and ultimately take action, creating ripples of change within society.

Silangan Film Circle, a campus-wide student organization of the University of the UU直播-Caloocan, is hosting From Script to Soul: An Immersive Acting and Filmmaking Workshop, to be conducted by accomplished film and television actor Mon Confiado.

The daylong SFC workshop takes place this Friday, October 24, 2025, at the UE Caloocan Conference Hall (11th floor, Tan Yan Kee Academic Building), and is open to aspiring actors and filmmakers among the student body of the University鈥檚 Caloocan campus.

Per the SFC, this workshop aims to equip aspiring actors among UE Caloocan students with essential skills in performance and filmmaking, through practical training in acting techniques, character immersion and on-set etiquette. Through lectures, exercises and a graded screen test, participants stand to gain firsthand insight into the craft while fostering discipline, collaboration and appreciation for film as an art form. Designed to bridge classroom learning and professional practice, this project offers students the rare opportunity to learn directly from a veteran actor while gaining skills essential to performance and film production.

Mr. Confiado is best known for his portrayal of Philippine President Emilio Aguinaldo in the 鈥渂ayaniverse鈥� trilogy of biopics comprised by 鈥楬eneral Luna鈥�, 鈥楪oyo: Ang Batang Heneral鈥� and the currently running 鈥楺uezon鈥�. Among his many small-screen credits include being a prominent cast member in episodes of 鈥楳aalaala Mo Kaya鈥� and 鈥榃ish Ko Lang鈥� and most recently in 鈥楽enior High鈥� and 鈥楬igh Street鈥�. He has been nominated several times for acting awards and has won two FAMAS awards.

鈥淚n these times when digital and cyberthreats and attacks have become increasingly rampant, we hope to arm our aspiring criminology students with the knowledge and know-how to fend off and foil technology-aided crimes, whether perpetuated globally or locally,鈥� Dean Concepcion stressed.

With the Philippine National Police (PNP) recruiting thousands of new police officers every year and the heightened need for security workers in various fields, graduates of criminology are highly in demand.

The PNP is hiring thousands of personnel yearly, recruiting over 6,000 personnel in 2023 which has lowered the ratio of cops per person from only 1:500 to 1:125. With the proliferation of cybercrimes and digital scams in the country, the PNP has stated its plan to improve their response capability by capacitating their regional offices and police stations through trainings.

鈥淯E aspires to help provide the country with highly equipped professionals who can anticipate and address new and complex forms of criminality and who possess the needed character and competence to meet the challenges of globalization in the field of criminology,鈥� Dean Concepcion explained.

Aside from entry into the police force and other relevant government agencies, career options of criminology graduates include business continuity management and security management in the private sector, research in specialized organizations, teaching in the academia, security consultancies, and many others.

Republic Act 11549 has lowered the minimum height requirement for applicants to the PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Bureau of Corrections from 1.62 meters to 1.57 meters (5鈥�2鈥�) for males and from 1.57 meters to 1.52 meters (5鈥�) for females, while granting height waiver for applicants belonging to cultural communities or indigenous peoples.

The University of the UU直播 College of Engineering-Caloocan has proudly produced a new topnotcher in the field of electronics engineering!

UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan alumna Mariam Zaheedatulbodore J. Mangansakan secured 3rd Place in the June 2025 Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) for Electronics Engineers, with an impressive score of 81.10%. The exam was conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) last June 6 and 7, 2025, in various international testing centers across the Middle UU直播, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Engr. Mangansakan is a Yearend 2023 graduate of UE Caloocan鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering program.

Further highlighting the College鈥檚 excellence, UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan achieved a 50.00% overall passing rate in the June 2025 ECE SPLE, significantly above the national passing rate of 23.73%. Even more notably, the College achieved a 100% passing rate among first-time takers!

John Mark Christian Rivera Cortez, a proud graduate of UE CFAD, passed the June 2025 Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) for Architects held in the Middle UU直播 and Singapore.As the lone UE examinee, his success was crucial 鈥� one pass meant everything. And he made it count.听Out of 158 takers nationwide, only 78 passed, with a 49.37% national passing rate. But for UE? 100%.

UE CFAD proudly congratulates its nine new architects who successfully passed the June 2025 Licensure Examination for Architects held on June 11 and 13, 2025, across country. The examination was administered by the Professional Regulation Commission through the Board of Architecture, chaired by Arch. Conrado T. Onglao, with members Arch. Robert M. Mirafuente and Arch. Corazon V. Fabia-Tandoc.

Of particular note is UE CFAD鈥檚 80% passing rate among first-time takers (8 out of 10), surpassing the national first-time passing rate of 79.32%鈥攁 strong indicator of our students’ readiness and quality of training. Overall, 9 out of 14 UE examinees passed, with the national overall passing rate at 65.16% (1,352 out of 2,075).

The University of the UU直播 College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design (CFAD) in UE Caloocan will unveil this Monday afternoon a colorful theses exhibition by its senior students of its Architecture, Multimedia Arts and Fine Arts-Visual Communication programs!

Titled “Kada Ideya: A Celebration of Diverse Creative Ideas,” the exhibit opens at 2 p.m. today, May 26. 2025, at the Chua King Ha Galleries on the fifth floor of the campus’s Tan Yan Kee Academic Building.

The exhibit will run all the way to July 26, 2025, not long after the start of UE K to 12 classes on July 1 and UE college and graduate classes on July 7.
