The UE community condoles with the family of Mr. Mario M. Atangan, the recent incumbent Environmental Services Office (ESO) Supervisor of the University’s Caloocan Campus, who passed away last July 2, 2021, at age 64.

The Aparri, Cagayan-born Mr. Atangan had been an employee of the University since January 26, 1993, initially serving as a casual employee in UE Manila. In April 1995, he became part of the University’s Security Office and was so for 12 years. He became the Janitorial Supervisor in June 2007, which led to his position as the UE Caloocan ESO Supervisor.

He was twice recognized as a UE Service Awardee: for 20 years of service in 2013 and for 25 years of service in 2018. The photo here shows his 2018 UE Service Awards portrait.

Mr. Atangan is survived by his wife, Mildred Atangan, and their two daughters who are both UE graduates: Atty. Mishiele Atangan-Villagracia (BS Accountancy, 2001; Bachelor of Laws, 2011), and Mrs. Maricel Atangan-Rahnema (Bachelor of Science, major in Psychology, 2004). Atty. Atangan-Villagracia—to date, the Director for Tax and Regulatory of Cebu Air Inc.’s Controllership Department—was, in fact, the commencement speaker for the morning session of the 2019 Yearend Commencement Rites on April 25, 2019, at the PICC Plenary Hall.

Considered as one of UE CBA Manila’s legendary professors, the Hagonoy, Bulacan-based Dr. Robles had been with the University since 1999, teaching Human Behavior in Organization, Principles of Management in Organization, Principles of Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Administrative Management and Automation. He retired from teaching effective May 2020.

Born on May 1, 1955, Dr. Robles had earned his Bachelor of Science in Management degree from the University of Regina Carmeli (URC, now La Consolacion University-Malolos) in 1992. He also took his further studies in URC, earning his Master in Business Administration degree in 1999, and his Doctor of Business Administration degree in 2014.

A well-loved CBA Manila professor, tributes from Dr. Robles’ former students poured out upon the news of his passing. Students remember Dr. Robles as one of their wackiest and kindest professors. They describe his classes as lively, with the professor loving to crack jokes with them. They also fondly remember him calling them handsome or “ganda” during class. In return, the students also lovingly called Dr. Robles as “Sir Handsome.”
