UE Caloocan Now a TESDA-accredited Assessment Center for 12 Technical Skills! /cal/ue-caloocan-now-a-tesda-accredited-assessment-center-for-12-technical-skills/ Wed, 27 Mar 2024 11:17:25 +0000 /cal/?p=19211

The University of the UU直播 (UE), through its Caloocan Campus鈥 College of Arts and Sciences (CAS Caloocan), is now a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-accredited Assessment Center for a total of 12 technical skills!

The TESDA certificates of accreditation for the University鈥攚hich are effective from February 21, 2024, to the same date in 2026鈥攚ere formally awarded to UE in a special program held in the afternoon of March 18, 2024, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Dr. Lucio C. Tan Building in UE Caloocan. UE President and Chief Academic Officer Zosimo M. Battad personally received the 12 certificates of accreditation from TESDA CAMANAVA Director Leonardo E. Pinlac.

UE CAS Caloocan is now a TESDA-accredited assessment center for the following technical skill titles: Events Management Services National Certificate (NC) III; Tourism Promotion Services NC II; Food and Beverage Services NC II, III and IV; Bread and Pastry Production NC II; Cookery NC II; Bartending NC II; Housekeeping NC II and III; Front Office Services NC II; and Barista NC II.

This development is in line with TESDA鈥檚 pursuit of assessing and certifying the competencies of middle-level skilled workers through Philippine TVET Competency Assessment and Certification System (PTCACS). The assessment process seeks to determine whether the graduate or worker can perform to the standards expected in the workplace based on the defined competency standards. Certification is provided to those who meet the competency standards, ensuring the productivity, quality, and global competitiveness of such workers.

As a TESDA Assessment Center, UE CAS Caloocan may test certain TESDA graduates for their competencies in the training programs they had taken. It will provide a support system of the academic units in the recognition and awards of certifications based on TESDA standards of knowledge, skills and values acquired by students. UE CAS Caloocan thus joins the company of TESDA assessment centers among not just other select accredited schools but also district offices, provincial training centers and regional TESDA offices.

UE鈥檚 accreditation as a TESDA assessment center will make national certification further within reach by not just its own students鈥 such as its college students taking up Hospitality Management or Tourism Management programs and its Senior High School-UU直播 Economics Track students鈥攂ut also students who have undergone relevant training in other schools or universities.

Interested parties or applicants may inquire further by emailing <cas.cal@ue.edu.ph>.

The University of the UU直播-Caloocan Central Student Council (CSC) has received two ultrasonic humidifier disinfecting misting machines, along with two boxes of one-gallon bottles of alcohol, from the Quezon City-based Accuteqs Renal Center as part of the CSC鈥檚 initiative named 鈥渉UEmidify,鈥 which aims to provide safe air for UE Caloocan constituents. The machines and boxes of alcohol were brought to UE Caloocan this past Thursday, November 18, 2021.

According to UE Caloocan CSC President Saida M. Manap, the project鈥檚 initiative is to lower the risk of contracting the flu by rapidly deactivating particles, making them less contagious. It is also a great way to add moisture to the air and help eliminate germs. It is also meant to help curb the spread of Covid-19 by disinfecting the members of the UE Caloocan community who will set foot on campus.

The humidifier disinfecting misting machines will be placed in the contact tracing area, near UE Caloocan’s Samson Road Gate, and at the Admissions Building lobby, between the Admissions Office and the Cashier’s window.

The group photo here shows UE CSC Adviser Engr. Eduardo B. Leron Jr. (4th from left), with CSC officers, namely (from 5th from left) Secretary Xyrille Guevarra, President Saida Manap, Business Manager Alecksandra Marquez, and Public Relations Officer Ronan John Capin鈥攖ogether with members of the UE Caloocan Security Office, who assisted in unloading the donated machines and alcohol upon delivery.

A big thank you to Accuteqs Renal Center for this donation, and kudos to the UE Caloocan CSC for this very timely and relevant initiative!
