The University of the UU直播 College of Engineering-Caloocan has proudly produced a new topnotcher in the field of electronics engineering!

UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan alumna Mariam Zaheedatulbodore J. Mangansakan secured 3rd Place in the June 2025 Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) for Electronics Engineers, with an impressive score of 81.10%. The exam was conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) last June 6 and 7, 2025, in various international testing centers across the Middle UU直播, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Engr. Mangansakan is a Yearend 2023 graduate of UE Caloocan鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering program.

Further highlighting the College鈥檚 excellence, UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan achieved a 50.00% overall passing rate in the June 2025 ECE SPLE, significantly above the national passing rate of 23.73%. Even more notably, the College achieved a 100% passing rate among first-time takers!

Big congratulations to the team of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) students of the UE College of Engineering-Caloocan for emerging as the Champion of 鈥業nnOlympics 2025: GDSC PLM Hackathon鈥!

The UE CEng鈥檊 group named Team Pandas 鈥 composed of third-year BSCS students Justin Sheen Guiriba, Andrew Emmanuel Robles, Kenny Francisco and Zyldjan Lanticse 鈥 took the top spot with their innovative app named GabAI: AI-Assisted Study Companion, a learning tool designed to help students adapt to different learning styles and languages.

Held last January 11 to 12 at ING Hubs at the Ayala UU直播 Tower in Makati City, InnOlympics 2025 was organized by Google Developer Student Clubs of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (GDSC PLM) 鈥 an innovation-driven competition where participants, including students and professionals, collaborate to create tech-based solutions to real-world challenges. Competing teams representing various BSCS schools were tasked to design and present innovative projects that address specific themes announced during the event.

Team Pandas won the championship over 29 other teams and a total of 120 students from other universities. (The word pandas in our champion Warrior team鈥檚 name refers to the fast, powerful, flexible and easy-to-use open-source data analysis and manipulation tool that is built on top of the Python programming language.)

In a momentous celebration of academic achievement, the University of the UU直播 College of Engineering-Caloocan鈥檚 Civil Engineering Department and the Association of Civil Engineering Students鈥 (ACES) UE Caloocan Chapter jointly held its First Hardhatting Ceremony on October 6, 2023.

Gracing the event were distinguished guests and members of the Civil Engineering community, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of aspiring civil engineers who are currently in their fourth year as UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan-Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering students.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of the UE Caloocan Chancellor and former UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan Dean, Dr. Victor R. Macam Jr., joined by the UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan Dean, Dr. Angelita D. Guia; the Associate Dean, Dr. Paraluman G. Sim; and the College Secretary, Engr. Edelito A. Handig鈥攖heir collective commitment to fostering growth and innovation in the field of civil engineering palpable throughout.

Guided by the wisdom and experience of the ACES Adviser, Engr. John Rei Gomez, and the visionary Chairman of UE CEng鈥檊 Cal鈥檚 Civil Engineering Department, Engr. Eduardo B. Leron Jr., the hardhatting ceremony became a platform for mentorship and encouragement for the aspiring engineers.

Adding further depth and inspiration to the occasion was the esteemed guest speaker: the President of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers鈥 (PICE) North Metro Manila Chapter, Engr. Oliver R. Hernandez, CESE, DPA, a luminary in the field of civil engineering. Congratulations to the students of the UE College of Engineering-Caloocan’s Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE) degree program who excelled in different categories of PalaIECEPan 2023!

The latest competitions of the annual convention organized by the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) took place on September 24, 2023, at the ICCT College Theater in Cainta, Rizal, and were live streamed on Facebook.

Leading the list of Warrior ECE Winners is the team composed of 3rd-year students Romnell M. Alejandro, Jamielyn S. Chua, Justin Aivan Nicholas Ferriol, and Carlo E. Palanca Jr., and 4th-year students Ayen Divine J. Besana and Melvin B. Feratero, who were collectively declared the Champion of the Interscholastic Quiz Show. The competition consisted of questions from various subjects in the ECE curriculum, covering Mathematics, General Engineering and Applied Sciences, Communications, and Electronics.

Afterward, Mr. Alejandro, Melvin B. Feratero, and Mr Palanca Jr. collectively won the First Runner-up award as Silver Medalists in the Elite Electronics Showdown. Proudly serving as their coach was UE CEng鈥檊 Cal.鈥檚 BSECE Department Chair, Engr. Mark Anthony C. Aseoche.

Second-year student Dannis R. Viernes, for his part, was declared the Champion of Mr. JIECEP, going above and beyond every category of the pageant. Meanwhile, 2nd-year student Catherine Mae Magsakay claimed 2nd Runner-up in the Ms. JIECEP competition.

In another contest, defending Champion and 4th-year UE Cal. BSECE student Ali Bin Ali was declared yet again as the Gold Medalist of the Chess Tournament. Mr. Ali Bin Ali swept through the said competition without experiencing a single loss.

PalaIECEPan 2023 saw a gathering of different schools under the IECEP-NCR Northeast Chapter. Among the participating schools were Rizal Technological University-Pasig, Our Lady of Fatima University, St. John Technological College of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, Jose Rizal University, UP Diliman, New Era University, AMA University-Quezon City, ICCT Colleges Foundation, Quezon City University, Rizal Technological University-Boni, and Don Bosco Technical Institute.

Congratulations to the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE) students of the UE College of Engineering-Caloocan who won in various categories of the PalaIECEPan 2022! The competitions were held last October 13-15, 2022, at the Brgy. Poblacion Center covered court in Mandaluyong City, and via Zoom.

Leading the list of Warrior ECE Winners is the team composed of 3rd-year students Carl Stephen Tiongson, Lex Harvy Acunin, Gian Albeos, Aron Patrick Bundalian, and 3rd-year students Aerick Von Su, and Ayen Divine Besana, who were declared the Champion and Gold Medalist of the Mobile Legends Competition in the Esportsfest Competition held last October 13 to 14, via Zoom.

Fourth-year student Ali Bin Ali was crowned the Champion and Gold Medalist of the Chess Tournament. Mr. Bin Ali swept through the said competition without experiencing a single loss.

Also winning Champion was 4th-year student Joshua Patrick Glimada, who won as Champion and Gold Medalist in the PiECE of Mind Essay-Writing Competition, about the convergence of different specializations of Electronics Engineering towards a sustainable nation.

The group of Ms. Besana, Mr. Su, 3rd-year students Paul Benedict Cataquiz and Melvin Feratero, and 4th-year students Arish Manalastas and Neslee Jude Juan was declared First Runner-up and Silver Medalists in the Interscholastic Quiz Show. The contest consisted of questions from various subjects in the ECE curriculum, such as Mathematics, General Engineering and Applied Sciences, Communications, and Electronics. Serving as their coach was UE CEng’g Cal. BSECE Department Chair Engr. Mark Anthony Aseoche.

The team of 4th-year students James Ivan Ang, Jio Alfonso Coronel, Aivan Bernabe, Aeneas Del Rosario and Jhon Bryan Panti was awarded as First Runner-up and Silver Medalist in the Call of Duty Competition in the Esports Competition.

The team of 1st-Year students John Vastile Ambrosio and Pier Luigi Mamaril, and 2nd-year student Lindsay Jean Mallari was awarded 2nd Runner-up and Bronze Medalist in the event鈥檚 Math Olympiad. Serving as the team鈥檚 coach is UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan Professor Engr. Oliver Daitol.

A group of UE College of Engineering-Caloocan graduates and students of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) shone bright at the recently held MIDAS Academic Festival!

Dubbed as the first convention of MIDAS academic users in the Philippines, the inter-school event was hosted by MIDAS IT Philippines and held last October 22, 2022, at Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay, and had participants from 29 universities and colleges nationwide.

The affair was a means to showcase midas Civil, which is 鈥渁 Bridge Design and Analysis software that combines powerful pre-and post-processing features with an extremely fast solver, which makes bridge modeling and analysis simple, quick, and effective, [along with] several easy parameter modification tools available that can be used for parametric analysis leading to optimized and economical design鈥 per <>.

Mark Levi C. Espino, who had formally earned his UE BSCE degree last July 22, won as the Champion in the MIDAS Speed Modeling in Building Category, besting peers from 13 other academic institutions in demonstrating their ability to model structures using MIDAS software within a specific time frame. Mentored by Engr. John Rei M. Gomez, a UE Caloocan BSCE faculty member, and the College鈥檚 BSCE Department Chairman, Engr. Eduardo B. Leron Jr., Mr. Espino was awarded a P12,000.00 cash prize and a certificate attesting to his championship.

Meanwhile, the UE Caloocan BSCE team of Mr. Espino and his fellow July 2022 graduates Janna Ba帽ares (who had also earned the Latin honor of Cum Laude) and Israel Jeshurun Sevilla and 4th-year student Neil Stephen Manzo, with Engr. Leron as Adviser, presented their technical paper on 鈥淧amagwalay: Proposed Design of Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) for Brgy. Apalit, Floridablanca, Pampanga鈥. The collective effort won the team a P15,000.00 cash prize, individual certificates, and a congratulatory plaque.

For their part, UE Caloocan BSCE seniors Joe Nicol Intal and Mark Cabral took part in the event鈥檚 quiz bee, which saw a proverbial battle of brains while learning functions of the MIDAS software.

A research paper by a team representing the UE College of Engineering-Caloocan was recently presented at the 2022 National Midyear Convention and Technical Conference of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE). The conference, whose theme was 鈥淐ivil Engineering and its Specializations: Responding to our New Normal and Foreseeing our Futures,鈥 was held last June 17 to 18 onsite at SM City General Santos and through the convention鈥檚 online platform.

Engr. Eduardo B. Leron Jr., the Civil Engineering Department Chair of the UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan, led the said five-person UE research team and presented their paper on the team鈥檚 behalf as a resource speaker at the PICE convention-conference.

Specifically, Engr. Leron (seen in the photo here) presented a research paper he co-authored with four of his then UE BSCE students, namely Dean Earol P. Cuizon, Jester John C. Loreto, Philip John C. Mercado and Fitzgerald M. Ta帽ala, in cooperation with Engr. John Francis L. Race, Quantity Surveyor of Makati Development Corporation (MDC).

The UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan researchers鈥 paper, titled 鈥淒igital Construction through BIM Systems for Engineering Practices amidst the Pandemic in the Philippines鈥 and which Engr. Leron presented at the conference鈥檚 Project Management and Construction Engineering session, was essentially about the current situation of digital construction in the Philippines, focusing on different construction companies in the country.

Engr. Leron鈥攁 UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan graduate who earned the degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Cum Laude, in December 2012鈥攚ill next be a resource speaker of the different Regional Technical Conferences of the PICE around the country under the Project Management and Construction Engineering Specialization.

Aside from being a Department Chair, Engr. Leron is the Adviser of UE Caloocan鈥檚 Central Student Council and is the Auditor of PICE鈥檚 North Metro Manila Chapter.

A month after this PICE convention-conference came the July 22, 2022, commencement rites featuring the latest batch of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering graduates of UE College of Engineering-Caloocan. Among them were Mr. Cuizon, who also earned the Latin honor of Cum Laude, and Mr. Ta帽ala, who was also conferred his batch鈥檚 Leadership Award for Men of UE Caloocan and the UE CEng鈥檊 Caloocan鈥檚 College Distinguished Graduate Award. Meanwhile, Mr. Loreto and Mr. Mercado are Summer 2022 completers.)

A team of students of the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) program of the UE College of Engineering (CEng鈥檊)-Caloocan secured Second Place in the recently held Executive Challenge: CAD Edition! They were awarded last February 12, during the Civil Engineering Executive Organization鈥檚 Engineering Congress 2022.

The team of fourth-year UE CEng’g Cal. student Fitzgerald M. Ta帽ala and third-year students Andrea T. Martin and Lawrence Spencer D. Mangaluz competed with 10 other schools from across the country before emerging in the top three. (The first placer represented the Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila, while the third placer hailed from the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges.)

As the competition’s participating teams were tasked to redesign an apartment into a sustainable, pro-environment living area through a three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) model, project portfolio and presentation in a month鈥檚 time, the UE Caloocan BSCE team rendered “The Sibol Project,鈥 which had eight green amenities: Plant-E (Likas), Rainwater Harvesting System (Agos), Eco-Laundry (Alon), Installation of Solar Panels (Sinag), Occupancy Sensors (Galaw), Natural Lighting (Liwanag) and Ventilation (Ginhawa), and Waste Management (Dalisay).

Also discussed in their presentation were the utilization of ecobricks, double glazing glass, and PVC pipes.
